So you see Cade is 19 months old - that's right 19 months and just barely started walking. We just couldn't believe it, we were starting to think it might never happen. We have gone through many emotions about this over the past several months. We have been worried, frustrated, annoyed, and humbled. Cade was a late crawler and people told me stores of their kids or someone they knew whose kid crawled late and then didn't end up walking until 18 months or so. My first reaction was that my kid is different and there is no way he'll take that long, ummm I was wrong! I started to get really worried that something was wrong with him, but the doctor assured me he was perfectly healthy, just had a good case of stubborness (wonder where he gets that from). And I have to admit I got really annoyed and really jealous when I saw any baby his age or younger walking. We tried everything to get him to walk, but nothing worked. I guess he just wasn't ready. Our timeline and the Lord's were not in sync. So after many prayers he is now walking and he looks like such a big boy. We are so proud of him! And we had to post this video to prove that it's real :)

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v6.nonxt6.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3De9f0d4ac8ebc489a%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331132332%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D33CF8B8D08629857EEF486623CAED282B52A793A.4D9EA6A053B92D1CB3C4D2FC6CCB3DA228BB331F%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3De9f0d4ac8ebc489a%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DuEYseDljat5NgQB1wcyC5hMf234&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

G'Day Mate!

We had the awesome opportunity to spend almost 2 weeks in Melbourne Australia this month. Dave's mom was born and raised there, and her twin brother Ken was kind enough to fly us out there to visit him and explore the sites. We are very grateful to him for his love and generosity. We did not take Cade with us because we didn't think a 15 hour flight would be that much fun with a baby, so he spent the time at my parents.

The country is just absolutely beautiful, they have so many different landscapes and they were all breathtaking. We kept ourselves very busy and saw so many different things. One of the coolest things we did was go to the penguin parade. There is a place on Philip Island that we went to and waited for the sun to go down. As soon as it did hundreds of penguins came running out of the ocean and went to find their nests on the ground. It was so fun to watch. We did lots of of other things including 3 different zoos, exploring the city, visting a lighthouse, swimming in the ocean, riding a train, eating a lot, shopping, and much much more. We did lots of fun things and took hundreds of pictures so here are just a few.

We went and saw the Melbourne temple. It was very pretty (as they all are).
We loved the beaches there! They were so clean, and the sand was nice and soft. It was nice and sunny the day we went so I laid out and worked on my tan while the boys played in the water. Bronson had a blast, and was not the least bit affected when he was knocked off the boogie board by a wave, he got right back on. I think this was his favorite part of the trip.

We saw lots of kangaroos while we were there. There is a golf course in Anglesea where many of them hang out. They are so use to people that you can get pretty close before they run away. This one has a cute little joey in her pouch.

This is a beautiful view of the beach in Anglesea. It was gorgeous!

We went to the Werribee mansion. This place was huge and the grounds were beautiful. They had a giant rose garden filled with every kind of rose you could imagine. I wanted it for my back yard!

Now this picture doesn't do his face justice, it looked much worse. On our last day there Bronson fell off of a zip line type toy at the park and smahed face first into the platform. He had a bloody nose and it started to swell up pretty fast. We took him to the doctor to make sure it wasn't broken, and thankfully it wasn't. It stayed swollen for a couple days and looked pretty bad with the scabs and bruises. Dave told him to tell everyone he got in a fight with a kangaroo. Other than this incident the whole trip was awesome! We are very grateful that we were able to have this experience, and we will definitely remember it forever.

Halloween...over already?

I would say Happy Halloween, but I guess I should be saying Happy Thanksgiving! I'm not sure if anyone even reads this anymore since I haven't updated it for a while. The past couple of months have been extremely busy. I feel like I have been going non-stop 24/7, so blogging really hasn't been a priority. Most of the craziness is over so hopefully I can be more diligent at this. I won't even try to go over all the stuff we have done since my last post, but I downloaded our Halloween pictures today and thought they would be fun to share.

Dave's sister had a Halloween party. We have been gone all day and night every day, but luckily most of it was doing really fun things. Here are some pictures of our week. I didn't have a camera at all of our adventures, so these are just some highlights.

We got some free tickets to Red Butte Gardens so we took the boys there. They both loved it! Bronson couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was, and he can't wait to go back.

Since Bronson missed the deadline for Kindergarten this year I enrolled him in preschool. He started last Wednesday and was really excited. He loves to learn so I know this will be a good experience for him.

Also on Wednesday Bronson had the opportunity to be the ringbearer at Dave's sister's wedding. He was really nervous about it at first, but once he tried on his tux he was really excited. He looked so handsome, and did an awesome job. All the little girls were fighting over him - it was hilarious!!!!

We went to the Utah State Fair this past Friday, and of course the boys loved it! Bronson really likes riding the ponies, and all the other rides for that matter. Below are Bronson and Cade posing as apples. You'll notice I don't have very many pictures of Cade in our adventures, and it's not because he isn't cute or anything, but he refuses to look at me whenever I try to take his picture. So it is rare that I get a good one of him.

Bronson is 5!!!

We celebrated Bronson's 5th birthday yesterday! I just can not believe how fast he is growing up. The past 5 years have gone by so fast, it seems like just yesterday I was in labor for almost two days trying to push his chunky butt out! Now he is turning into such a fun vibrant kid - no longer a baby or toddler. He is so much fun to be around! He has tons of energy and a really fun sense of humor and imagination. I love his strong desire to learn, and his ability to pick up on things really quickly. He starts preschool next week(he missed the deadline for kindergarten) and I just know he will have so much fun and will really enjoy it! He asked me the other day "Mom, can you believe I am almost 5? I bet you can't!" It was hilarious! He was so excited for his birthday - what a fun age, I kinda wish I could freeze him at this age forever!

We made Bronson a special breakfast for his birthday. The past year has gone by so fast, and has been really fun with the two boys. Cade is such a funny baby, he loves to laugh and smile. He is a super sweet baby that loves to cuddle (especially with me). He refuses to crawl, but does this really interesting scoot that doesn't look very comfortable, but he gets around pretty fast and is finding more and more things to get into. His favorite person in the whole world is his big brother Bronson. Just the sound of his voice makes Cade's face light up, I can already imagine the mischief they will get in together. We love Cade so much and we are so happy that Heavenly Father let him be a part of our family!

We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with all of our family. We roasted hot dogs over our fire pit, and enjoyed smores, cake, and ice cream. It was a busy day, but we had lots of fun. We went swimming at "The Bubble" in Bountiful, and then went to a near by park for games and a BBQ, and of course we ended the night with an awesome firework show put on by Dave and my brother-in-laws. Lets just say that guys and fireworks are an interesting combination, but it was hilarious none the less! I do have to say that I am so grateful for this amazing country we live in and the freedoms we have, and I am definitely proud to be an American! Thanks to the men and women who continue to protect our freedom every day!

California

Last Saturday morning we left for a much needed vacation! My parents were kind enough to watch Cade since I didn't think he would have that much fun, and Bronson could definitely use some mommy and daddy time. We flew down to California, and I am pretty sure the plane ride was Bronson's favorite part - he loved it. On the flight home the pilot actually let him go in the cock pit and showed him all the buttons and controls, he of course thought that was pretty awesome. Anyway we spent 2 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. We had so much fun! Bronson was a little nervous about some of the rides, but overall he was a good sport and had a really fun time. We then headed down to San Diego and spent lots of time at the beach and then went to Sea World for a day. I love Sea World, so I was happy to see that Bronson did too. We were pretty exhausted by the time we got home on Wednesday evening., but we had so much fun and really enjoyed making those amazing memories.

Here is Bronson in front of his favorite ride - Small World. We ended up riding it 4 times! I think that song is still playing in my head.

Went we got to San Diego we went straight to the beach so Bronson could see the ocean. It was kind of chilly so we weren't planning on getting in the water, but I should have known better. We started several years ago and look forward to it every Mother's day weekend. It is a wonderful cause, and it is so touching to see so many survivors as well as ladies who are currently battling breast cancer come out and raise money to find a cure. Every year there seems to be more and more people, I think they said there was more than 18,000 this year. We had a lot of fun and got some exercise at the same time.

My sister-in-law Jessica, my mom, and me.

Dave usually runs the race while we walk, but he decided to walk with us this year. Between 4 egg hunts, a birthday party, a baby blessing, other Easter activities, and the usual Saturday housework things were kind of crazy. Everything was so much fun it is worth the exhaustion I am feeling today. I love holidays and all the fun activities you can do with kids, but I think I tend to get carried away. ( I know I know - Jesus and the Easter Bunny in the same lesson, we are not trying to confuse him I promise)

We decorated Easter eggs on Friday which was a lot of fun.

Here is Bronson at egg hunt #1 on Friday night.

Here is Bronson with Gauge at egg hunt # 2. This one was at Truman Elementary, and it was over in about 5 seconds. But of course the kids still think its pretty cool.

Here is Bronson at egg hunt # 3. Our niece Ava was blessed on Sunday, and they did an egg hunt afterwards. Bronson hit it big time!

Here is Bronson at egg hunt #4. I couldn't believe when we got home last night how many plastic eggs and candy he had. Holy Cow! Needless to say I have had no problem helping him eat it, and I am sure I have gained 10 pounds this weekend!

Here is a cute picture of the boys in the Easter clothes. We took a evening trip to the grocery store to get us some much craved treats. We were standing in the ice cream isle deciding which delicious flavor to add to our calorie intake for the day when Bronson climbed on the bottom rack of the grocery cart. Ever since Cade took his place in the front of the cart he's been finding new ways to ride on it (how dare he walk). He has ridden on it that way before - against my better judgment, but sometimes you have to pick your battles. Well this time didn't go so smoothly. All of a sudden he starts screaming "I'm stuck, I'm stuck" and sure he enough his leg was stuck in between the bars on the rack. He was totally freaking out, and Dave and I were trying our hardest to not bust out laughing. We had a hard time getting him out and I kind of got wooried that we were going to have to cut him out or something. Everyone in the store was staring at us, so that was kind of emabarrasing. But right when some man ran over to help us his leg became free, although he was quick to tell us that Bronson really shouldn't be riding on that part - thanks I'm not sure I would have figured that out on my own. He was traumitized enough that I am sure it will never be an issue again. A really nice checker brought him a balloon which cheered him up. Maybe I am a terrible mother but I find the whole thing pretty funny!

Let The Games Begin

In preschool this past week we talked about the letter O. We try to center everything we do that day around the letter. So I decided it might be fun to have or own Olympics. The kids had a blast! Their events were a balloon race, carry an egg on a spoon, hold an orange under their chin, hop on one foot, crab walk, and a bunch more silly things. Here are a few pictures of Bronson and Abby. They even received a gold medal.

Happy Anniversary

Dave and I celebrated our wedding anniversary on Monday. I can't believe we have been married for 7 years! The time has gone by so fast, it seems like just yesterday he was following me around OC Tanner and stalking me in the break room. In this short time we have moved three times, bought a house, bought three cars(one lemon), gone on a few vacations, served in numerous callings, Dave graduated from the U, we bought a dog, got rid of a dog, and most importantly brought two wonderful boys into this world. We have had some wonderful memories and I look forward to an eternity of more! Dave is an amazing husband and father, below are 10 things I love about him (in no particular order.) These are just to name a few.

1. He's a good father
2. He has a testimony and honors his priesthood
3. He is handsome
4. He has a good sense of humor - although I don't always find his jokes funny, I can't imagine being married to someone who took life seriously.
5. He is romantic - I can't even count how many times he has bought me flowers just because.
6. He will do anything for anyone
7. He is a hard worker
8. He says "I love you" whenever we finish a phone conversation
9. He doesn't care what other people think
10. He encourages me in my goals and interests

THEN & NOW

(this isn't the best picture, but you get the idea. Winter is definitely my least favorite season of the year. The snow is beautiful and all, but being cold and trapped inside gets miserable really fast! And I have to say the dead grass and plants just aren't that great to look at. I love everything about Spring! My favorite is when all the trees start to blossom, and the daphediles and tulips bloom. It is just beautiful, and I love the idea of life renewing itself and even though things can get icky for a while they can still become beautiful again. So I have to say even though it is still February, with temperatures like this I am ready to break out the short sleeves and flip flops. It was so fun to take Bronson outside for a little while and let him play and burn energy. He did ask if we could get out his swimming pool, but even I'm not that crazy. I know we still have another month (at least) of rollercoaster weather, but here's to hoping Spring sticks around for a while!

Signs of life! He seems to go through this everyone once in a while. I am not sure if he is trying to test us or what. I don't make him eat every thing on his plate, but I think he at least needs to try the food and we usually ask him to take 4 bites since that is how old he is. I don't think we are asking to much of him, but sometimes he gets his mind set that he doesn't want to eat dinner and he doesn't budge - stubborn fellow, wonder where he gets that from. We have tried different punishments, but nothing seems to work. So I saw on Super Nanny not to long ago that she made a little girl sit at the table until she ate her dinner or until it was bedtime, so we thought we would try it out. This past week I made a broccoli and chicken casserole - he loves both of the main ingredients so I didn't think there would be a problem, but something about blending them together repulses him and he wanted nothing to do with it. Below are pictures of him about one hour into it. He was out cold for about a half hour. I couldn't help but laughing and of course I had to grab the camera. After he woke up he had a bit of a meltdown, but then decided he would eat some of the food so he could get down and play. We were kind enough to separate the chicken and broccoli - how dare they be touching - and he ate 4 bites of each. So the punishment seemed to work, and was quite entertaining. Thanks Supper Nanny!

Car For Sale

We have purchased a new vehicle to fit our family a little better, and so we are selling this one. On Christmas Eve we stuck to our tradition and gave the boys new p.j.'s and an ornament. Bronson loved his new jammies and spiderman slippers, he even declared Christmas as "Christmas Jammy Day" and he wore his pajamas the entire day. It was quite funny. It was so much fun to see Bronson's reaction on Christmas morning, he was so excited and he couldn't believe that Santa had brought him the toys he asked for. Christmas is fun when you are a kid, but I definitely think it is more fun when you have kids! After opening presents we went to Dave's parents house in Riverton for breakfast. The weather didn't seem too bad at our house so we thought we would brave the snow. Little did we know that the further south we went the worse it would get. Luckily we made it there safe and sound. Dave's sister measured the snow as we were getting ready to leave and they had received 15 inches - holy cow! We were nervous to leave and even more nervous to drive after we got stuck just getting out of the driveway and his family had to push us all the way through the neighborhood. Lucky for us the closer we got to home the less snow there was. That evening we went to my brother's house for a delicious dinner. Once again when we left it was a blizzard. We got home safely, but found that our power was out. It was time for the boys to go to bed so we bundled them up pretty warm since our heater wasn't working. I was extremely grateful when the power came on the next morning at 7:00am. Our thermostat was down to 53, so it was a bit chilly. Luckily our house heated back up really fast. Even though we had a few carzy moments the day was wonderful and very memorable. I am sad to see the Christmas season over - so is Bronson, he has already asked me how many days until its Christmas next year.

Here is Bronson showing us his "Mator Monster" - this is the one toy he really wanted Santa to bring. We really need to invest in 4 wheel drive!

Dave was cursed by being born the day after Christmas, and spent much of the morning shoveling the snow. I know your asking why didn't I get my lazy butt out there and do it since it was his b-day, but I am honestly a wuss and can't lift that much snow. I would probably still be out there now trying to get our small driveway cleared. I made up for it that nigh by taking him on a date (which doesn't happen often.) We went and saw Valkyrie and ate dinner at Thiafoon. It was nice just to be alone for a little bit and have some adult conversation. Happy 29th birthday Dave - you're the best!

Bronson thinks the snow is the best thing ever, and he also thinks its a meal. We braved the snow and drove up to Syracuse for the event. It was pretty scary, but we made it safe and sound. There was a lot of people there so it was kind of crazy, but we had a lot of fun and the food was delicious. They decided to break away from the tradition of ham and potatoes and have a mexican feast instead. I was very happy with this because I love mexican food, so I ate more than I should and enjoyed every bite. Dave was asked to play Santa which is quite funny considering how skinny he is, and he couldn't grow a beard if he tried, but he did a great job. He had a couple costume malfuctions but luckily the kids didn't notice. They were all so excited to see him and couldn't wait to sit on his lap and tell him what they wanted for Christmas. It was a nice touch to the party.

This is the only picture I got of Santa where his mustache wasn't hanging halfway below his upper lip. It was hilarious!

Cade sat on Santa's lap, but was a little startled by the beard. She is extremely talented and we are really pleased with how the pictures turned out. I was in the left lane in everyone's way, so of course people started honking at me (don't they know it is against the rules to honk when someone's hazards are on!) And to make matters worse it was pitch black and raining. This is the same car that we just replaced the clutch on a month ago, and plan to sell in the next few months. So the thought of putting more money into it just ticked me off. Of course I was freaking out and defnitely crying - I am good at that! I called Dave all hysterical, I don't think rationally in stressful situations, and he grabbed the boys put them in the car and came to my rescue. While I was waiting for him a nice stranger stopped and pushed me to the side of the road. He also offered me a ride to work, but I know all about stranger-danger and decided to wait for Dave. It is just more proof that our Heavenly Father loves us and has angels here on earth that he sends to watch out for us. I have been really grateful ever since to know that there are still nice people out there that are willing to help people they don't even know. It also made me grateful for my amazing husband who I know is willing to do anything for me, and is not the least bit bothered by my hysteria in situations like this.

Happy Halloween

I haven't been much of a blogger lately, but I thought I would post some cute pics from Halloween. Bronson was Batman this year(old style), and Cade was a bat. They both looked great! Bronson obtained more candy then any 4 year old needs, but luckily I benefit from that!

We did wake up on the 31st and found that someone (I assume teenage boys) had stolen our pumpkins. I understand that they are just dorky kids trying to have fun, but try explaining that to a little kid. If they would have seen the tears in Bronson's eyes and how sad he was when he found out, they would feel really bad! I do have to say it was pretty cute when Bronson got over the emotional meltdown he said "but they didn't even say please - they just took them, they could have at least said please" Aren't 4 year olds the best!

No this is not E.T. - this is the Pumpkinhead Man! I just started reading the Twilight series this week - I know what took me so long? They really didn't interest me - vampires and high school romance just aren't my thing, but I caved into peer pressue and decided that since every single female I knew had read them I would give them a try. NowI can honestly say I am obsessed. I read the first book in a day, the second in a day and half, I started the 3rd one this morning and I am half way done. I just can't put them down. So to anyone else you was holding out like I was - don't - you'll love them! I am really excited for the movie, although I am not sure any actor can't fit the perfect Edward that she describes and what I picture in my head. By the way, where were all the sexy vampires when I was in high school?

September Fun

I can't believe it is already the last day of September, where did this month go? The sad part is that I start back to work next week. Luckily I will only be working 2 days a week, but it will still be hard to leave the boys. I just can't believe how fast the past 12 weeks have gone by. This past month we have been really busy. We started the month by celebrating Bronson's 4th b-day, and soon after he started preschool. One of my friends from my ward had the idea of doing preschool from home, and so far it has be going really well. There are three of us doing it, and we just take turns teaching at our house. The kids have lots of fun together, and the best part is that it's free! Below are pictures of some of the other fun things we have done this month.

Here is Bronson with his cousin Gauge at the State Fair. Bronson had so much fun. He rode on a pony, rode a few rides, and he managed to eat an entire footlong corn dog.

We went up to Mirror Lake to go fishing and Bronson caught his first fish. Did I mention the one day it rained this month is the one day we could go fishing... but don't worry we braved it out and had a blast!

Here is Grandpa, Bronson, and Dave at the Circus. All Bronson cared about was his popcorn and the elephants, but I hadn't been to the Circus since I was a kid so it was fun to see it again.

Dave's parents have a timeshare at Snowbird this time every year, but it is usually too cold to play in the pool. He weighed in at a healthy 8 lbs 14 ozs and was 20 1/2 inches long. It has been a fun adventure the past few days watching Bronson's initial shock that yes this baby is "real" and answering all the other interesting questions about childbirth he has come up with. We had a good laugh when Bronson lifted up his shirt and said "he can drink from me."

So far he has been a really good baby and we definitely feel blessed to have this sweet miracle in our lives. He is a great addition to our family, and we already can't get enough of him. After you have one child it is very hard to imagine that you could love another one as much as you love the first, but I have now experienced first hand that there is plenty to go around. It is a parent-child class so of course Dave is doing it with him since I refuse to buy a maternity swimming suit let alone put one on. He was very excited to go to the "big pool", but as you can imagine as soon as the teacher had Dave dunk him under the water he freaked out. It has been a little bit of a roller coaster ride, but Dave has done a good job at finding ways to make it fun for Bronson and a little less scary. He has been getting a little more comfortable each class, and we are hoping by the end he will know a few of the basics and be that much safer around water.

Lagoon

Our work Lagoon Day was a week ago, and although I didn't ride anything being 8+ months pregnant and all, I had a blast watching Bronson enjoy all the kiddie rides. Most of you who know us well know that it takes us a while to catch up with everyone else when it comes to technology. For instance we just got cell phones in the fall - I already hear the gasps - you wonder how we ever lived with out them. Some how we managed, but I doubt we could ever go back. Most recently we have installed the internet in our home - amazing I know. What's next? Who knows, maybe cable T.V. :) Anyway we hope to use this blog to keep our friends and family updated on our lives. We both struggle with keeping in contact with friends and family so hopefully this will help close that gap. Since we are first timers at this, let us know if have any suggestions.

Just a quick update on our family. We currently live in West Valley, Utah. We only planned to live in our house for a few years, but with the way the housing market is going we will probably be here for a while. We have made some great friends in our neighborhood, and there are quite a few kids Bronson's age. Speaking of the little tike, he is doing great! Bronson will be 4 years old in September and continues to keep us on our toes. He is a lot of fun and keeps us very entertained. Our lives would be quite boring without his spunky personality. He pretends to be shy around people he doesn't know, but mom and dad know his true colors. He is especially excited right now to become a big brother. He was hoping for a little sister, but has come to terms with the fact that it is a boy. He often kisses my belly and talks about all the things the baby will like to do. This bundle of joy should be joining our family in early July. We are very anxious to expand our family and start this new chapter in our lives.
