One foot in front of the other...

All parents are excited when their child starts to walk, but I have to say we are absolutely exstatic!!! So you see Cade is 19 months old - that's right 19 months and just barely started walking. We just couldn't believe it, we were starting to think it might never happen. We have gone through many emotions about this over the past several months. We have been worried, frustrated, annoyed, and humbled. Cade was a late crawler and people told me stores of their kids or someone they knew whose kid crawled late and then didn't end up walking until 18 months or so. My first reaction was that my kid is different and there is no way he'll take that long, ummm I was wrong! I started to get really worried that something was wrong with him, but the doctor assured me he was perfectly healthy, just had a good case of stubborness (wonder where he gets that from). And I have to admit I got really annoyed and really jealous when I saw any baby his age or younger walking. We tried everything to get him to walk, but nothing worked. I guess he just wasn't ready. Our timeline and the Lord's were not in sync. So after many prayers he is now walking and he looks like such a big boy. We are so proud of him! And we had to post this video to prove that it's real :)

G'Day Mate!

We had the awesome opportunity to spend almost 2 weeks in Melbourne Australia this month. Dave's mom was born and raised there, and her twin brother Ken was kind enough to fly us out there to visit him and explore the sites. We are very grateful to him for his love and generosity. We did not take Cade with us because we didn't think a 15 hour flight would be that much fun with a baby, so he spent the time at my parents.
The country is just absolutely beautiful, they have so many different landscapes and they were all breathtaking. We kept ourselves very busy and saw so many different things. One of the coolest things we did was go to the penguin parade. There is a place on Philip Island that we went to and waited for the sun to go down. As soon as it did hundreds of penguins came running out of the ocean and went to find their nests on the ground. It was so fun to watch. We did lots of of other things including 3 different zoos, exploring the city, visting a lighthouse, swimming in the ocean, riding a train, eating a lot, shopping, and much much more. We did lots of fun things and took hundreds of pictures so here are just a few.
We went and saw the Melbourne temple. It was very pretty (as they all are).
We loved the beaches there! They were so clean, and the sand was nice and soft. It was nice and sunny the day we went so I laid out and worked on my tan while the boys played in the water. Bronson had a blast, and was not the least bit affected when he was knocked off the boogie board by a wave, he got right back on. I think this was his favorite part of the trip.

We saw lots of kangaroos while we were there. There is a golf course in Anglesea where many of them hang out. They are so use to people that you can get pretty close before they run away. This one has a cute little joey in her pouch.

This is a beautiful view of the beach in Anglesea. It was gorgeous!

We went to the Werribee mansion. This place was huge and the grounds were beautiful. They had a giant rose garden filled with every kind of rose you could imagine. I wanted it for my back yard!

Now this picture doesn't do his face justice, it looked much worse. On our last day there Bronson fell off of a zip line type toy at the park and smahed face first into the platform. He had a bloody nose and it started to swell up pretty fast. We took him to the doctor to make sure it wasn't broken, and thankfully it wasn't. It stayed swollen for a couple days and looked pretty bad with the scabs and bruises. Dave told him to tell everyone he got in a fight with a kangaroo. Other than this incident the whole trip was awesome! We are very grateful that we were able to have this experience, and we will definitely remember it forever.

Halloween...over already?

I would say Happy Halloween, but I guess I should be saying Happy Thanksgiving! I'm not sure if anyone even reads this anymore since I haven't updated it for a while. The past couple of months have been extremely busy. I feel like I have been going non-stop 24/7, so blogging really hasn't been a priority. Most of the craziness is over so hopefully I can be more diligent at this. I won't even try to go over all the stuff we have done since my last post, but I downloaded our Halloween pictures today and thought they would be fun to share.
Dave's sister had a Halloween party. Dave dressed up as a nerd, I was a hula girl (my yearly costume), Bronson was Bumblebee, and Cade was Tigger.
Cade loved his costume and wore it the entire night, hood and all.

Bronson just had to be Bumblebee (the Transformer, not the insect!) He thought he was pretty cool, and he made off with a ton of candy, which didn't help my goal to eat healthy. It was a fun holiday and we are looking forward to a yummy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Busy Week

For the past week we have been extremely busy (more than usual). We have been gone all day and night every day, but luckily most of it was doing really fun things. Here are some pictures of our week. I didn't have a camera at all of our adventures, so these are just some highlights.

We got some free tickets to Red Butte Gardens so we took the boys there. They both loved it! Bronson couldn't stop talking about how beautiful it was, and he can't wait to go back.

Since Bronson missed the deadline for Kindergarten this year I enrolled him in preschool. He started last Wednesday and was really excited. He loves to learn so I know this will be a good experience for him.

Also on Wednesday Bronson had the opportunity to be the ringbearer at Dave's sister's wedding. He was really nervous about it at first, but once he tried on his tux he was really excited. He looked so handsome, and did an awesome job. All the little girls were fighting over him - it was hilarious!!!!

We went to the Utah State Fair this past Friday, and of course the boys loved it! Bronson really likes riding the ponies, and all the other rides for that matter. Below are Bronson and Cade posing as apples. You'll notice I don't have very many pictures of Cade in our adventures, and it's not because he isn't cute or anything, but he refuses to look at me whenever I try to take his picture. So it is rare that I get a good one of him.

Bronson is 5!!!

We celebrated Bronson's 5th birthday yesterday! I just can not believe how fast he is growing up. The past 5 years have gone by so fast, it seems like just yesterday I was in labor for almost two days trying to push his chunky butt out! Now he is turning into such a fun vibrant kid - no longer a baby or toddler. He is so much fun to be around! He has tons of energy and a really fun sense of humor and imagination. I love his strong desire to learn, and his ability to pick up on things really quickly. He starts preschool next week(he missed the deadline for kindergarten) and I just know he will have so much fun and will really enjoy it! He asked me the other day "Mom, can you believe I am almost 5? I bet you can't!" It was hilarious! He was so excited for his birthday - what a fun age, I kinda wish I could freeze him at this age forever!

We made Bronson a special breakfast for his birthday. He loves pancakes with peanut butter (I wonder where he gets that from).

We had a party with our families at a nearby park. It was fun to watch the kids try and break the pinata.

Bronson's babysitter Beki made him this awesome space shuttle cake.

Bronson's scooter was stolen a month or so ago, so he was really excited that Grandma and Grandpa got him a new one. He had a fun party and a wonderful birthday!

Cade is 1 year old!

We just can't believe that Cade is already 1! The past year has gone by so fast, and has been really fun with the two boys. Cade is such a funny baby, he loves to laugh and smile. He is a super sweet baby that loves to cuddle (especially with me). He refuses to crawl, but does this really interesting scoot that doesn't look very comfortable, but he gets around pretty fast and is finding more and more things to get into. His favorite person in the whole world is his big brother Bronson. Just the sound of his voice makes Cade's face light up, I can already imagine the mischief they will get in together. We love Cade so much and we are so happy that Heavenly Father let him be a part of our family!

We celebrated his birthday on Saturday with all of our family. We roasted hot dogs over our fire pit, and enjoyed smores, cake, and ice cream. We are grateful for all the family that came and for their love and support.

Cade was pretty excited about all the new toys he got, although Bronson is thinking he scored pretty big and has been playing with all of Cade's new toys non stop.

This is Cade when we first gave him his cake - a little unsure.

This is a few minutes later. I'm pretty sure he didn't eat much, but just smeared it around and made a big mess. He had lots of fun so it was worth the clean up.
All in all everything went really well and it was a fun party. Happy Birthday Cade!

God Bless America

We had a wonderful 4th of July! It was a busy day, but we had lots of fun. We went swimming at "The Bubble" in Bountiful, and then went to a near by park for games and a BBQ, and of course we ended the night with an awesome firework show put on by Dave and my brother-in-laws. Lets just say that guys and fireworks are an interesting combination, but it was hilarious none the less! I do have to say that I am so grateful for this amazing country we live in and the freedoms we have, and I am definitely proud to be an American! Thanks to the men and women who continue to protect our freedom every day!

California

Last Saturday morning we left for a much needed vacation! My parents were kind enough to watch Cade since I didn't think he would have that much fun, and Bronson could definitely use some mommy and daddy time. We flew down to California, and I am pretty sure the plane ride was Bronson's favorite part - he loved it. On the flight home the pilot actually let him go in the cock pit and showed him all the buttons and controls, he of course thought that was pretty awesome. Anyway we spent 2 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. We had so much fun! Bronson was a little nervous about some of the rides, but overall he was a good sport and had a really fun time. We then headed down to San Diego and spent lots of time at the beach and then went to Sea World for a day. I love Sea World, so I was happy to see that Bronson did too. We were pretty exhausted by the time we got home on Wednesday evening., but we had so much fun and really enjoyed making those amazing memories.

Here is Bronson in front of his favorite ride - Small World. We ended up riding it 4 times! I think that song is still playing in my head.

Went we got to San Diego we went straight to the beach so Bronson could see the ocean. It was kind of chilly so we weren't planning on getting in the water, but I should have known better. Bronson loved playing in the sand and water, he couldn't get enough of it.

Sea World

We had some time to kill before we had to be to the airport, so we went to another beach.
All in all it was a great vacation!

Race for the Cure

It has become a tradition in our family that we do the Race for the Cure every year. We started several years ago and look forward to it every Mother's day weekend. It is a wonderful cause, and it is so touching to see so many survivors as well as ladies who are currently battling breast cancer come out and raise money to find a cure. Every year there seems to be more and more people, I think they said there was more than 18,000 this year. We had a lot of fun and got some exercise at the same time.

My sister-in-law Jessica, my mom, and me.
Dave usually runs the race while we walk, but he decided to walk with us this year. I was very grateful because it was quite the workout pushing the boys in the stroller. Bronson said he was going to run the whole thing, and while I encouraged him I knew better. He had a blast and has been telling everyone about it ever since.

Cade is 9 Months Old

Cade turned 9 months last Sunday, and we had
his Dr. appt on Friday. Here are the stats:

Weight: 19lbs 4ozs - 40%
Height: 28 1/2 inches - 70%

He is really growing fast, and we just can't believe how fast time flies. He loves to smile and laugh, especially when Bronson is around! He sits up and plays with his toys, but he has no desire to crawl. I am pretty sure he will just skip it and go straight to walking at some point. I guess it makes it easier for us to keep track of him. He is such a sweet baby, and a fun addition to our famliy. We love him so much and just can't get enough of him!
